Hi, I’m Hanna
I am a Registered Social Worker (BCASW #14141) with a Master of Social Work (clinical specialization) from the University of British Columbia.
I am passionate about mental health and I feel incredibly honored to work with my clients in such a meaningful way.
I specialize in counselling youth (12-19), their families, and adults who are experiencing eating disorders, anxiety, OCD, and/or trauma.
Counsellor, Social Worker
As a therapist, I strive to create a space where clients feel safe to open up and explore their experiences and emotions. I employ a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach that highlights clients’ strengths and resources within themselves and their communities. Working with a counsellor can be an effective way to increase self-awareness and make meaningful changes in your life. Through our collaborative work together, I aim to help you harness your strengths and resources and take action toward living a life you feel is fulfilling.
I take an integrative approach to counselling, weaving many evidence-based therapies into my practice depending on the individual needs of my clients. Most notably, my practice is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Narrative Therapy. For the treatment of eating disorders in youth and adults, I have training in Family-Based Treatment (FBT), CBT-E, DBT, ACT, and EFFT to treat a range of eating disorders. When treating trauma, I apply Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and trauma-focused CBT.
I believe in:
healing and recovery
capacity to change
the power of connection and community
nature as a healer
your ability to build yourself a meaningful and fulfilling life
When I’m not working, I love walking my dog, surfing, hiking, playing volleyball and soccer, and eating food with friends. In line with my passion for the outdoors, I offer a nature-based therapy option that blends traditional talk therapy with the healing power of nature.
I am a cisgender white settler descendant living and working on the unceded traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ, Lewkwungen, Songhees, and Esquimalt peoples. It is an incredible privilege to call these lands my home, and to live, work, and play on them.
All parts of you are welcome here.
I have over 10 years of experience working in therapeutic and supportive roles with youth, families, and adults. I have worked in a variety of clinical and community organizations, where I have supported the mental health and well-being of teens, families, and adults.
